Blog #4: Museum of Moving Image
The most memorable
part of the museum tour was when our tour guide took us to the area where they
had sketches and mini models of sets for movies. I found it so intriguing to
see how in depth they go when it comes to set design and creating it. In the
past I had never put much thought into what goes into the set production so to
see the stages that they go through was very interesting. I loved how the
specifically had multiple examples from the movie Silence of the Lambs. I grew
up watching that movie with my dad so to see the sketches of where Hannibal Lecter
was kept and the mini wooden model of the house of the kidnapper was one of the
highlights of the trip for me. I loved seeing what went on before the movie
even started filming. It has definitely changed my views of how a movie is
created and how in depth the production really is. I think discovering this
creates a whole new level of connection to a film because you see all the hard
work put into it to make it specifically the way it was meant to be. I haven’t
watched the movie since seeing the exhibit but I know that watching the movie
now will be a whole new experience to me because of this discovery.
